Understanding live batch and shift dashboards in Factbird

Download the lesson slides >

While analyzing completed batches is useful, many teams also need real-time visibility into ongoing production. Factbird provides two dashboards for this purpose: the batch dashboard and the shift dashboard.

Batch dashboard

The batch dashboard shows live performance for the current batch. Many manufacturers display it on large screens near the line so operators, line supervisors, and managers on Gemba walks can immediately see how production is progressing.

Key features include:

  • Line status, green for running, red for stopped, with downtime causes shown in real time.
  • Batch details such as PO number, product, and estimated completion time.
  • Production progress graph comparing actual output to the expected pace.
  • Unregistered stops over the last 24 hours, a vital KPI to keep down for understanding downtime causes and optimizing production.
  • Additional KPIs, including units produced today, this week, and in the last hour.

This dashboard provides a clear, live overview of whether the batch is on track and where problems may be emerging.

Shift dashboard

Some teams prefer to view performance at the shift level instead of by batch. The shift dashboard offers a similar view, but all metrics are tied to the current shift.

Key features include:

  • Current shift details (name, target, expected vs. actual output, estimated completion time).
  • Performance graph showing whether the shift is ahead of target or behind target.
  • Unregistered stops for the last 24 hours.
  • Previous shift overview to compare current performance with the last run.

Together, the batch and shift dashboards give operators, supervisors, and managers the real-time insights needed to spot issues quickly, track progress against plan, and keep production on target.
