Associate learning activities with skills in Factbird

In Factbird’s Knowledge Excellence app, Skills are built from groups of Learning Activities.

While Learning Activities are the individual training tasks, Skills represent broader capabilities, such as operating or maintaining a specific machine.

Viewing a Skill

On the Skills page, you’ll see a list of existing Skills with their title, description, and associated location.

For example, the Filler skill might have the description “Managing and calibrating beverage filling machines to ensure accurate volume levels.” Clicking into this Skill shows:

  • The Skill title and description.
  • The location it’s linked to.
  • The Learning Activities required to achieve the Skill (e.g., Filling Machine Overview and Filling Machine Job Shadowing).

Associating Learning Activities with a Skill

To qualify an operator for a Skill, they must complete all associated Learning Activities. To add one:

  1. Open the Skill and click the plus button.
  2. Choose from your list of existing Learning Activities, or create a new one.
  3. Click Save Changes to update the Skill.

Creating a new Skill

If you need to add a new Skill:

  1. Click the Add Skill button in the top right.
  2. Enter a title, description, and location.
  3. Add the required Learning Activities that make up the Skill.

By grouping Learning Activities into Skills, you can create structured training paths, certify employees in critical competencies, and track workforce readiness across teams and sites.
