Use the Skill Matrix in Factbird
The Skill Matrix in Factbird’s Knowledge Excellence app brings together everything you’ve built in Training and Skills Management.
It shows which employees are enrolled in, working toward, or certified in the Skills that are made up of Learning Activities.
Reading the Skill Matrix
The matrix provides a clear, color-coded view:
- Filled green circle with a tick: the employee is fully qualified, having completed all Learning Activities for that Skill.
- Hollow green circle: the employee is enrolled but has not yet completed all required Learning Activities.
- Empty cell: the employee has not been enrolled in that Skill.
For example:
- Sam has completed Safety Classroom Training, so he is certified in the Safety Skill (filled green circle).
- Sam is enrolled in the Labeler Skill but still has Learning Activities left to complete, so it shows as a hollow green circle.
Enrolling employees in Skills
If an employee is not yet enrolled in a Skill, you can add them directly from the matrix:
- Find the Skill and employee row.
- Click the “+” in the empty cell.
- Select Enroll.
The employee will then be notified that they’ve been assigned to this Skill and can begin completing the required Learning Activities.
Why use the Skill Matrix?
The Skill Matrix makes it easy to:
- Track employee progress at a glance.
- Identify who is certified in key Skills and where gaps exist.
- Ensure workforce readiness across lines, shifts, and sites.
With the Skill Matrix, you can manage training progress, spot skill gaps, and build a more capable, flexible workforce.
