Create digital Activities in Factbird for operators
Factbird’s Activities feature in our Connected Operations app lets you replace paper checklists and spreadsheets with digital forms that guide operators and capture standardized data.
Using the Digital Form Builder, you can create Activities like shift checklists, in-line quality checks, and troubleshooting guides; all available directly in Factbird.
Viewing Activities
On the Activities page, you can:
- See all existing Activities, including their title, description, and location.
- Review examples such as:
- A shift start checklist, prompting operators to confirm safety and complete a shift leader brief.
- An in-line quality check, requiring operators to record sample weights, pass/fail results, and visual checks.
Creating a new Activity
To create a new Activity:
- Click the plus button in the top right.
- Enter a title (e.g., Shift End Checklist) and an optional description.
- Assign it to a location (e.g., Europe → Denmark → Bottling Line 1).
- Adjust settings such as:
- Require initials from operators.
- Allow manual start so operators can complete the Activity outside its normal trigger.
- Define a trigger for when the Activity should appear. Options include:
- Time-based (e.g., every 30 minutes, at shift end, or on fixed calendar intervals).
- Unit-based (e.g., every 500 units produced).
- Event-based (e.g., at batch start, batch end, shift start/end).
- Stop-based (e.g., after a specific downtime cause, stop type, or category).
Adding form elements
Once the Activity framework is set, build the form using available elements:
- Text: free text input.
- Number: numeric entry with min/max limits for pass/fail validation.
Instructions: step lists with optional media attachments. - Checkboxes: confirm completion of individual steps.
- Date and time: timestamp entries.
- Checklist: multi-step confirmations (e.g., shift end tasks).
- Pass/fail: yes/no or custom-labeled outcomes.
Options: multiple choice selections. - Image upload: require operators to document conditions with photos.
For example, a Shift End Checklist might include step-by-step tasks with checkboxes to confirm each one.
Saving and editing Activities
Once you save the Activity, it appears in the list on the Activities page. You can edit any Activity at any time and updates are applied immediately to keep operator guidance current.
By creating Activities in Factbird, you can digitize SOPs, enforce standardized procedures, and capture real-time feedback from operators, all in one, easy-to-use system.
