Understanding the analytics dashboard

Download the lesson slides >

This lesson shows you how to analyze downtime data in Factbird using the analytics dashboard. You’ll learn how to use popular manufacturing visual tools like Pareto charts and scatter plots to identify your biggest loss categories and spot patterns in when issues occur.

The Pareto chart gives you a clear breakdown of downtime by category, including planned stops, unplanned stops, and unregistered events, showing both total time lost and frequency. From there, you can drill into specific stop types, such as “loss during operation,” to see the top individual reasons and how much they’re impacting production.

Switching to a scatter plot view reveals when stops happen, helping you spot trends; for example, recurring issues after lunch or on certain days. These insights allow you to dig into root causes and focus your improvement efforts where they’ll have the most impact.

What you’ll learn:

  • Viewing downtime by category using the Pareto chart.
  • Identifying top loss reasons within each category.
  • Analyzing stop frequency and total time lost.
  • Using scatter plots to see when stops occur and detect patterns.
  • Applying data insights to find root causes and guide corrective actions.

By the end of this lesson, you’ll know how to turn your downtime data into actionable insights that help reduce losses and boost efficiency.
