Set Andon schedules and manage availability in Factbird

Download the lesson slides >

To make Andon effective, you need to know not just who can respond, but when they’re available. Factbird's Andon schedule in the Connected Operations app lets you map workers to shifts, so operators always know the right people are on call to take Andon requests.

Creating and viewing schedules

  1. Go to the Andon page in Factbird and open the Schedule section.
  2. Create a new schedule by giving it a name and assigning it to the relevant line(s).
  3. Use the calendar view to see scheduled shifts for your maintenance and supervisory teams. These run in parallel with operator shifts, giving you full visibility of support coverage.

Adding and editing workers

  • Click on a shift (e.g., Technician Day Shift, 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.) to view who is assigned.
  • Add workers (e.g., Jane Smith) by clicking the plus button so they become available to take Andon calls during that shift.
  • Workers added here will be notified if an Andon call is made while their shift is active.

Managing attendance and status

From the week table view, you can quickly adjust worker status:

  • Not attending: unavailable for this shift.
  • Attend temporarily: available only for this instance of the shift.
  • Attend permanently: added to this shift on a recurring basis.

This flexibility makes it easy to adapt when team availability changes, while ensuring Andon calls are always covered.

Best practice

Keep schedules updated weekly and align them with operator shifts. This ensures no coverage gaps and helps managers instantly see who is responsible during each shift.

By using schedules in Factbird’s Andon tool, you can coordinate roles and availability, avoid confusion during downtime, and ensure faster response to line issues.
